We are looking for a Software Engineering Summer Intern to join Netwealth’s Engineering team for a 6-8 week placement. This internship is designed to give you hands-on experience working on a clearly defined software project, alongside opportunities to contribute to smaller tasks across our wider engineering department.
You will work closely with experienced software engineers and be supported through mentorship, code reviews, and exposure to real-world engineering practices. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates who are passionate about software development and want to deepen their practical experience in a modern, cloud-based environment.
• Delivering a software project over the course of the internship, from understanding requirements through to implementation and testing
• Writing clean, maintainable code as part of a collaborative engineering team
• Contributing to smaller enhancements, fixes, or internal tools across the broader engineering department
• Learning how modern software teams operate, including agile ways of working, version control, and peer review
• Gaining exposure to cloud-hosted systems and production-grade software used in a regulated financial services environment
This internship is ideal for candidates who:
• Are in their penultimate year, final year, or have recently completed a university degree
• Are studying Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or another technical or numerate discipline
• Have a long-standing interest in computing and software development, demonstrated through study, personal projects, internships, and/or self-directed learning
• Are curious, motivated, and keen to learn how professional software engineering teams work
Essential:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• A genuine enthusiasm for software development and technology
• Familiarity with at least one programming language (through university, personal projects, or prior experience)
• Interest and curiosity in AI models, tools and agents, for both software development and business applications
• Willingness to learn, take feedback, and work collaboratively
Helpful (but not absolute requirements):
• Experience with C# and .NET
• Exposure to Blazor or other modern web frameworks
• Awareness of DevOps concepts such as CI/CD or infrastructure as code
• Experience using cloud services (e.g. Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Use of version control systems such as Git
During the internship, you’ll gain practical experience in:
• Professional software engineering workflows and best practices
• Building and maintaining applications in a modern .NET and cloud-based environment
• Collaborating within a multidisciplinary engineering team
• Applying theoretical knowledge from your degree to real-world problems
• The role technology plays in wealth management and financial services
You’ll be joining a collaborative and highly skilled engineering team with experience across a wide range of industries. We value curiosity, clear thinking, and people who enjoy building high-quality software together.
• Real responsibility on a meaningful software project
• Supportive mentoring from experienced engineers
• Exposure to modern tools, technologies, and ways of working
• Insight into how technology underpins a fast-growing fintech business
